PRVSLY RECRDED

Divided by rudimentary collages and seasonal shifts, PRVSLY RECRDED is a concerted deconstruction of a previous work, THE RANGE OF YOUR AMAZING NOTHING. At age 25, Vitkauskas cobbled together RANGE (roughly 100 poems) with a punk approach and surrealist inspiration in tow. PRVSLY finds the author at age 50, attempting to ground—yet not deflate—the ambitious imagery of RANGE via Eastern philosophy, Russian existentialism, US cynicism, Lithuanian weird, French New Wave influence, Canadian therapy, Romanian theoretical physics (well, sort of), and dream interpretation.

While putting this collection together, Vitkauskas' estranged mother was diagnosed with—and died from—a rare form of brain cancer. Vitkauskas describes this convergence of events as, "Continuing my journey as a cosmic immigrant and/or a little soldier, navigating and consistently stumbling upon new landscapes."
